Hey friend, have you been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and like the world has totally gone to shit. While you're in the right place. Our mission at free spirit stitches is to create more joy in the world any way we can. And one of those ways is with, the create more joy podcast. So join me, Sarah D your spunky sassy, sarcastic host, as we chat about all things, joy and how to create more of it in your life. Cuz we know the world really needs it. I won't pretend it's always sunshine and rainbows, but I'll be bringing my real life real. Yeah. I said real life realness because I know among the messy bits, there's lots of joy too. You're guaranteed to hear some F bombs. That's what she says and lots of tangents. But if you hang with me, I'll help you create more joy. Hey friend. Welcome. Welcome. I really feel like I wanna be like, all right, all right, all right. Totally not trying to sound like Matthew McConaughy, but I hear it like that. How he says it in my head, but anyways, let's get to it today. what I wanna chat about today is. our foundation. Cuz I feel, I can't really go much further into this podcast without getting sound on our foundation. What we're gonna talk about, what this whole podcast is based upon and why you are here listening to me today, obviously joy, right? Joy to the world, all the boys and girls joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea joy to you and me. Thank you for obliging me, bonus points if you know who sings that song, what song that is. Okay. I'm gonna tell you though. um, whenever I'm talking about joy. I see it. Or I think about it like that song usually pops into my head. So joy to the world, by Three Dog Night, it was one of my mom's favorite bands when she was growing up. Now I might have just put my foot in my mouth. Mom, if you're listening, I love you. Can't wait to celebrate your 39th birthday Kisses, kisses. so it's a catchy tune. Any whos. just please keep listening. I promise I'm not gonna sing anymore on the rest of this episode, but I can't really promise. I'll never sing again. but back to joy and why this is the focus of this podcast and why I felt such a need such a. Urge or just like why I felt like I needed to get this out, into the world. And, and first of all, why not? Like, hello joy, who doesn't want more joy in their life? Am I right? But I'm going to let the Dalai Lama help me, with this one a little bit and no don't freak out. He's not my first guest on the podcast. although that would be like, hella cool. anyways, we'll get there. Right baby steps, baby steps Sarah. we'll get there. But the Dalai Lama has said that from the very core of our being, we simply desire joy and contentment. Let that sink in. I'm gonna read it again. Okay. close your eyes obviously not if you're driving but just let this sink in. The Dalai Lama has said from the very core of our being, we simply desire joy and contentment. So personally what I take from that, as soon as I read that, as soon as I saw it, I thought, joy is our birthright. Joy is my birthright. Joy is your birthright friend. It is yours, no guilt, nothing. You don't have to do X, Y, and Z in order to deserve joy. It is yours. It is yours to create it is yours to experience it is yours to revel in. Now, if you're stuck in the negative self talk or that yucky woe is me. First of all, there's no judgment here. No judgment at all. We've all been there. I'm pretty sure I was there in the last 48 hours for sure. But the thing is, if we start becoming a bit more of an active participant in our own joy, we'll start to see it more. We'll start to create it more. We'll be more conscious of it. Therefore you will be joy. Okay. You can be joyful. Well, correction, you are joyful. You are joyful. My friend. It is there. It is in you. It is your right you just gotta get out of your own way. Okay. So I'm not here to say that just because you've listened to this podcast, you've listened to my words and the great Dalai Lama's words that magically you're more joyful. It's not gonna work like that. it's easy, but it's not that easy. Meaning you gotta do something about it. You gotta do something to create that for yourself. It's a short one today, friends, but I just wanted to make sure that we were all on the same page. That joy is yours. You are joy. You are joyful. It is there. You just have to be willing to see it and to create it for yourself. The thing about joy is that we are an active participant in our joy. We cannot simply just wait for it to happen to us. We cannot just wait to feel it. We must create it. We must create it for ourselves. Spoiler alert. We are in full control. Of our joy. So my goal with each episode is to leave you with a takeaway what I'm calling a joy challenge, something that you can do to take actionable steps right now today to start creating more joy in your life. So your joy challenge for today is to write down three things that brought you joy today or in the last 24 hours. And it can be the smallest thing. For example, at some point in the last 24 hours, the house was absolutely quiet for like 15 seconds and you were thinking, wow, isn't that nice? it doesn't have to be those big, huge things. Joy is all those little tiny moments put together. Okay. So write it down. Now, if you wanna take this a step or two further, do this for the next three days or even a week, and I promise you you're gonna see a difference. So. Write down three things that brought you joy in the last 24 hours. And let me know how that goes. Thank you so much for listening. And remember sharing is caring friends. I'd be so grateful if you shared this with someone who needs it in their life, make sure to subscribe and it would be super awesome.
